Peanut Butter Banana Pup Treats (Whole Wheat + Flax)

Simple, soft-baked dog treats made with banana, peanut butter, whole wheat flour, and flaxseed. No added sugar and totally pup-approved.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 large ripe banana
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter check label for no xylitol
  • 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil optional for softness
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • ¼ cup water add more as needed, depending on dough dryness

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mash the banana in a bowl until smooth.
  • Add the peanut butter and melted coconut oil. Stir until creamy.
  • Add the whole wheat flour and flaxseed. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Add water gradually until the dough comes together and feels soft but not sticky.
  • Dust your surface with a little flour and roll the dough out to about ¼ inch thickness.
  • Cut into shapes or slice into small squares.
  • Arrange treats on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 14 to 17 minutes, or until lightly golden and firm.
  • Cool completely before giving to your dog.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days, refrigerate for up to 10 days, or freeze up to 3 months.
For crunchier treats, bake an additional 3 to 5 minutes.
Flaxseed boosts healthy fats and helps bind the dough!
If the dough cracks while rolling, sprinkle in another tablespoon of water.
