Homemade dog treats are one of the easiest ways to use ingredients you already have while giving your pup something wholesome. These peanut butter banana treats come together with pantry staples and take only a few minutes to mix and roll out. The dough stays soft and manageable, and the baked treats have a tender bite that works well for most dogs!
The base is a mashed banana mixed with natural peanut butter. A little whole wheat flour and flaxseed give the dough structure. Water brings everything together. That is all you need! There is no added sugar and no strange ingredients, which is helpful if you like knowing exactly what goes into your dog’s snacks, and makes it perfect for donating to a local animal shelter (like I did with the photographed batch!).
You can cut these into any shape – I did a mix of big and small for different sized dogs since I was donating these, but you know your dog best! A small cutter works if you want treats for training. A larger cutter works if you want something a bit more special. They bake, no matter what size, until lightly golden and firm and they cool into a sturdy little biscuit. Oh yes! and they keep well in the fridge and freeze well too, so you can make a batch now and have extras ready for later.
If you share these with your dog, let me know how they like them and I am always always open to receiving furry friend photos enjoying. Homemade treats always feel a little celebratory, and this recipe makes it easy to spoil them without needing anything fancy.
