Healthy Greek Yogurt Berry Bowls

Greek yogurt bowls for breakfast have become one of my absolute non-negotiables in life and this berry version is the one I make most often. It is fast, genuinely beautiful, and hits that balance of creamy, sweet, tart, and satisfying that makes you feel like you are eating something special even on a Tuesday morning. Once you start making your own yogurt bowls at home you really do stop thinking about going out for breakfast.

The base is thick Greek yogurt, which I am a strong advocate for because the texture and richness it brings is just incomparable. This includes full fat, but feel free to try the non-fat version too. It is also high in protein which means this bowl actually keeps you full in a way that a lot of lighter breakfast options do not. If you want to keep it dairy free, a good thick coconut yogurt works really well here too!

The berries are what make this bowl feel summery and alive. I like to use a mix of whatever looks best, like sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries. If you want to take it a step further, a quick macerated berry situation is incredible here. Just toss your berries with a little lemon juice and a small pinch of sugar and let them sit for about ten minutes. They release their juices and become this lightly syrupy situation that drips into the yogurt in the most wonderful way.

Top with granola for crunch, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, maybe some chia seeds or hemp hearts if you want a nutritional boost (like I do often), and fresh mint for brightness. The toppings are entirely yours to play with but that combination is genuinely hard to improve on.

This is breakfast that feels like a treat and is actually good for you, which is exactly the kind of thing I love building recipes around. I hope you enjoy it! Tag me @herbyeats.

Cuisine American
Servings 2 servings

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls (1 small, for macerating berries)
  • Serving bowls (2)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer (optional)

Ingredients

For the berries:

  • 2 cups mixed fresh berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries (about 300g)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice 15ml
  • 1 tsp sugar or honey for macerating (5g / 7g)

For the bowls:

  • cups thick full-fat Greek yogurt 360g
  • ½ cup granola or 3 tbsp chia seeds or both! (60g)
  • Honey or maple syrup for drizzling
  • Fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  • Macerate the berries (optional but recommended): Toss the berries with the lemon juice and a pinch of sugar or honey. Let sit for 10 minutes, until juicy.
  • Divide the Greek yogurt between two bowls.
  • Spoon the berries and any accumulated juices over the yogurt.
  • Top with chia seeds or granola, a drizzle of honey, and fresh mint (optional).
  • Add anything else you’d like, such as hemp hearts, if using. Serve immediately.

Notes

Hold off on adding the granola or chia seeds until you’re ready to serve. Full-fat Greek yogurt is recommended for the best texture and staying power. Macerating the berries is optional but makes the bowl feel a lot more special. Swap honey for maple syrup to keep this refined sugar free.

Storage: components can be prepped ahead and stored separately in the fridge for up to 3 days; assemble just before eating.
